International week of science and peace

Good morning everyone. Today I am standing here to talk to you all about the “International week of science and peace.” The International Week of Science and Peace was first observed during 1986 as part of the observance of the International Year of Peace. In recognition of the value of the annual observance, the General Assembly adopted resolution 43/61 in December 1988, which proclaims the “International Week of Science and Peace”, to take place each year during the week in which 11 November falls. This Week encourages greater academic exchanges on a subject of universal importance while also generating greater awareness of the relationship of science and peace among the general public. We are going to be contributing to this event by enlightening you all on the main topic for this week. “How does science play a role in influencing the society”? We have put together a set of famous scientists that have helped our world grow so much, to where we are today.

Biology:-

Ø Gregor Mendel – Father of genetics

Ø Charles Darwin – Law of natural selection

Ø  Rosalind Franklin – DNA structure

Ø  Jean-Baptiste Lamarck – Father of evolution

Ø  Erich von Tschermak – Genetic Mutation

Chemistry:-

Ø  Antoine Lavoisier – Father of Chemistry

Ø  John Dalton - Dalton’s Atomic Theory

Ø  Marie Curie – Radioactivity

Ø  Ernest Rutherford – Gold foil experiment

Ø  J. J. Thomson – Discovered the electron

Physics:-

Ø  Albert Einstein - Theory of relativity and quantum mechanics

Ø  Isaac Newton – Laws of gravity and motion

Ø  Thomas Edison – Invented the light bulb

Ø  Richard Feynman - Theory of quantum electrodynamics

Ø  Gustav Kirchhoff - Fundamental understanding on electrical circuits

All of these scientists are very important people we value in history because of these important discoveries that have brought us here today. It is for this reason that we must always remember to value them for what they have done for us. Thank you.

World Water Day

World Water Day World Water Day is an annual United Nations observance day held on 22 March that highlights the importance of fresh water. The day is used to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. The theme of each day focuses on topics relevant to clean water, sanitation and hygiene (wash), which is in line with the targets of Sustainable development goal 6. The UN world water development report (WWDR) is released each year around World Water Day.  World Water Day, held on 22 March every year since 1993, celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis. Today, water is under extreme threat from a growing population, increasing demands of agriculture and industry, and the worsening impacts of climate change. As societies balance the demands on water resources, many people’s interests are not being taken into account.  This year ́s theme Worl...

August Home Activity  I had decided to bake cookies again like my February activity but using a different recipe to see how it would turn out.I explored the creativity part of CAS by straying from the original recipe and make something different. It turned out great and I absolutely loved the experience!
