International week of science and peace

Good morning everyone. Today I am standing here to talk to you all about the “International week of science and peace.” The International Week of Science and Peace was first observed during 1986 as part of the observance of the International Year of Peace. In recognition of the value of the annual observance, the General Assembly adopted resolution 43/61 in December 1988, which proclaims the “International Week of Science and Peace”, to take place each year during the week in which 11 November falls. This Week encourages greater academic exchanges on a subject of universal importance while also generating greater awareness of the relationship of science and peace among the general public. We are going to be contributing to this event by enlightening you all on the main topic for this week. “How does science play a role in influencing the society”? We have put together a set of famous scientists that have helped our world grow so much, to where we are today.

Biology:-

Ø Gregor Mendel – Father of genetics

Ø Charles Darwin – Law of natural selection

Ø  Rosalind Franklin – DNA structure

Ø  Jean-Baptiste Lamarck – Father of evolution

Ø  Erich von Tschermak – Genetic Mutation

Chemistry:-

Ø  Antoine Lavoisier – Father of Chemistry

Ø  John Dalton - Dalton’s Atomic Theory

Ø  Marie Curie – Radioactivity

Ø  Ernest Rutherford – Gold foil experiment

Ø  J. J. Thomson – Discovered the electron

Physics:-

Ø  Albert Einstein - Theory of relativity and quantum mechanics

Ø  Isaac Newton – Laws of gravity and motion

Ø  Thomas Edison – Invented the light bulb

Ø  Richard Feynman - Theory of quantum electrodynamics

Ø  Gustav Kirchhoff - Fundamental understanding on electrical circuits

All of these scientists are very important people we value in history because of these important discoveries that have brought us here today. It is for this reason that we must always remember to value them for what they have done for us. Thank you.

Women's Day

Women's Day International Women's Day is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the cultural, political, and economic achievements of women. It is also a focal point in the women's rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence against women. International Women’s Day originated from labor movements in North America and Europe during the early 20th century.  International Women's Day is commemorated in a variety of ways worldwide; it is a public holiday in several countries, and observed socially or locally in others. The UN observes the holiday in connection with a particular issue, campaign, or theme in women's rights. In some parts of the world, International Women’s Day still reflects its political origins, being marked by protests and calls for radical change; in other areas, particularly in the West, it is largely sociocultural and centred on a celebration of womanhood.  The da...

Vaccine Drive

Covid Vaccine   The Covid Vaccine is one of the most discussed topics of all time. With the vaccine spreading rapidly, we needed to generate a cure faster than ever. Unfortunately we found it quite hard to do so. Finally after a lot of testing, and lockdowns to protect people the best they could, we had found a vaccine. This vaccine was not of just one type. Many people from different countries tried to develop vaccines and some countries succeeded. However, only one to two vaccines are currently accepted worldwide. This is very inconvenient to a majority of people who need to travel for important reasons, and can’t get across the country. The vaccines were approved based on success rates and many vaccines had similar success rates but not all of them were accepted. This very much affects allot of countries in a bad way. The vaccines used to be free when they came out. But now since the demand is way higher, people are having to pay for the vaccines, which is absolut...
